PURPOSE OF PROJECT COORDINATION PROGRAM
The major dates for the proposed downtown
projects need to be known because of their direct impact on business, the
public, and tourism. Being unaware
of potential street closures, redirection of traffic, etc. can deter or reduce
sales, which is not good for downtown businesses or the public. By informing the downtown business community
and the public of any construction project dates that can impact them, will
prevent any misunderstandings, disorder, or loss of profit.
THE MILLS PLAZA PROJECT

This project is the total rehab of the Mills Building (building on the right) which includes a
new parking deck and sky bridge to the exisiting parking deck immediately north. The Plaza Hotel will be rehabed also, with a parking deck on the exisiting surface parking lot. A large
pedestrian mall is included.
This is the largest project to happen in downtown in many years!
EL PASO FEDERAL COURT HOUSE
The new Federal Court House planned for downtown has its demolition phase completed. The location is between Magoffin and Myrtle streets, north and west, and immediately east of Campbell. Construction has begun. The project is scheduled for
a total of 18 month. The project is a GSA Design Excellence project, designed by
Antonie Predock and will become an architectural treasure for El Paso. This is a $74.7 Million Project
